  • Resident Advisor will be hosting a conference at Dekmantel Festival 2019. For the fourth year in a row, the programming will take place at Amsterdam's EYE Film Institute. The conference, which includes two panels and a live taping of the RA Exchange, will run from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Thursday, August 1st. The first panel, titled "Knowledge sharing across generations," will be hosted by Martha Pazienti Caidan with Suzanne Ciani, Peaking Lights, Bufiman, Carista and Roza Terenzi set to speak. Attendees will hear from both scene veterans and newer artists for a knowledge-sharing exercise that explores how the music industry has changed over time. The second panel, "The scope of electronic music," will feature Deena Abdelwahed, Palms Trax, Nosedrip and Wally Badarou, to be hosted by Gabriel Szatan. The discussion will cover "the cross-pollination of music in public spaces and how it has evolved, with a specific lens to the present day of genre-bending and how that plays out—collaborations, sparks of inspiration, opened horizons, or simply a reprieve from the insularity of one's world." Gabriel Szatan will also host a live taping of the RA Exchange with Leroy Burgess. This year's Dekmantel Festival runs from July 31st through August 4th. It'll feature live sets from the likes of Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins' Cybotron, Demdike Stare, Yves Tumor, Sunn O))), Róisín Murphy and more. DJs include Shinichi Atobe, object blue, Batu, Yu Su, Andrew Weatherall, Donna Leake and Afrodeutsche, with back-to-backs from Ben UFO & Blawan, Eris Drew & Octo Octa and Skee Mask & Zenker Brothers.
