- We take a look at what's happening around Deutschland this Silvester.
Ah, Silvester, that one night of the year when just about everyone is out and about. Most clubs are more packed than at any other time, but that's part of the fun. If you're looking to jump into the fray, here's a snapshot of some of your options.
We might as well cut to the chase and talk about what is probably Germany's most popular house and techno NYE option: Silvester at Berghain / Panorama Bar. Per usual, the two-to-three-day program for this one draws mostly from the club's illustrious cast of residents (Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Tama Sumo, Nick Höppner, Steffi, Ryan Elliott) and friends of the family (Gerd Janson, Answer Code Request, DVS1, Virginia) but there are more than a few interesting outsiders as well, including Robert Hood, Dennis Ferrer and Kim Ann Foxman.
That's not the only appetizing option in Berlin. DJ Deep is booked at Tresor alongside Octave One, Marcelus, Monoloc, Pär Grindvik and many more, while Mr.Ties and Aerea Negrot make up part of the bill upstairs in the Shift. Club der Visionaere will keep things cozy with regulars like Tom Clark, Janina, Matt John, Jan Krueger and Daze Maxim. ://about blank is taking a more leftfield route with Anstam, Conforce and James Dean Brown. Naturally, KaterHolzig will be in full swing straight through January 3rd, with André Galluzzi, Beaner, Dirty Doering, Acid Pauli and many more confirmed. Other highlights around the city include Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts at Watergate, Modeselektor at Weekend, Nôze at Ritter Butzke and Hrdvsion at Loftus Hall. Come New Year's Day, Renate will be open for business with Sammy Dee, Jan Kreuger and Daze Maxim (again), Permanent Vacation and a couple dozen others.
Meanwhile, in Offenbach, the usual suspects will be out in force at Robert-Johnson, namely Gerd Janson, Ata and Oliver Hafenbauer. The latter two will also make an appearance across the river in Frankfurt that night with Roman Flügel for Avec Plaisir at Museum Fuer Angewandte Kunst. Also in Frankfrut, Sammy Dee is on the bill at Tanzhaus West with Snuff Crew and nearly 20 others. Techno is the sound du jour at U60311, with Function, DVS1, Technasia, Mark Broom, Cari Lekebusch and Joey Beltram all confirmed. (Beltram is also locked in for a party at ELZ in Bremen that same night).
In Dortmund the choice is split between Uni-Arena and Hotel Shanghai; Chris Liebing, Tommy Four Seven, Pan-Pot and Monika Kruse will appear at the former, Levon Vincent, Langenberg and Kim Ann Foxman at the latter. Down in Munich, The Analog Roland Orchestra headlines Silvester at Rote Sonne, before the Zenker Brothers take over the next night. Berghain resident Boris will be at Harry Klein, and Thugfucker is booked at Bob Beaman Club. In Cologne, you can catch Levon Vincent at Roxy with XDB and Tobias Becker, or Daniel Stefanik at Gewölbe im Westbahnhof & Westpol.
