Glastonbury's Block9 confirms Four Tet, Underground Resistance for 2023

- Glastonbury dance area Block9 has revealed the lineup for this year's edition. Celebrating Block9's 16th birthday, the programme will be spread across four stages: IICON, Genosys Soundsystem, NYC Downlow and The Meat Rack. Notting Hill Carnival will also return for 2023, this time with a permanent sound system. Highlights at IICON include Detroit techno royalty Underground Resistance, Four Tet, Cakes Da Killa, Tash LC, Zenker Brothers, Jamz Supernova and Deena Abdelwahed.
Over at NYC Downlow, the likes of Timmy Regisford, Scott Diaz, Cinthie, Midland, Moxie, The Carry Nation, Call Super and Mood II Swing will join the usual crowd of dancers and drag performers. Tucked away at the back of NYC Downlow, Meat Rack will host sets from NIKS, Dave Harvey, Deptford Northern Soul Club and Gina Breeze, among others.
Genosys Soundsystem, the open-air stage celebrating the role of music as a form of political protest, will host a back-to-back-to-back between Eliza Rose, Dan Shake and Sally C, as well as sets from Analog Soul, Bashkka, ISAbella, Sedef Adasï, Roi Perez, Pavel Plastikk, Ben UFO and more.
"At Block9, we have always championed underground music, freedom and self-expression," said cofounders Gideon Berger (AKA GIDEÖN) and Stephen Gallagher. "In the last few years, our freedoms and our right to protest have come under sustained attack. The creation of new draconian laws means our liberty is being systematically eroded.
