  • Ash Lauryn is hosting a three-part programme for BBC Radio 4 about techno and its relationship with radical ideas. Premiering on July 19th, Techno: A Social History charts the genre's spread from Detroit in the '80s to Berlin in the '90s and cities such as Tbilisi and Kyiv in the 2010s. It also examines the role techno has played in queer politics and community organising. Throughout the series, Lauryn speaks to DJs such as Marcel Dettmann, Ellen Allien, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Honey Dijon and Nastia, as well as the team behind Tbilisi club Bassiani. The series also mentions Berlin's legendary club Berghain. Find out more about Techno: A Social History via the BBC Radio 4 website. The programme is the station's latest look at electronic music. Last month, UK singer and experimental artist GLOR1A was the subject of The Untold: Should GLOR1A give up her dreams? Born and raised in Detroit, Lauryn is a radio and podcast host, journalist, producer and DJ. She has written for Resident Advisor, hosted multiple episodes of the RA Exchange and, in 2019, recorded her own RA Podcast.
