  • Mark Van Hoen will revisit his Locust alias for three new 12-inches on Medical Records. Coming as part of the Seattle label's dance floor-oriented Transfusions series, the three EPs "dive into unadulterated techno spaces that you were clearly not prepared for," according to the press release, and presents a "razor sharp new identity." Much of Van Hoen's previous material as Locust was more in line with IDM, ambient and experimental music. The first record, Red, is due out on February 1st, with the other two due to follow later in the year. The artwork was designed by Paul Nicholson, who is best-known for creating the Aphex Twin logo. (You can see more on him here.) The English producer is a decades-long veteran of electronic music, with spells in Seefeel, Autocreation and Scala, as well as solo music released under his given name and Locust, since the early '90s. His last LP as Locust, After The Rain, came out on Editions Mego in 2014. Watch the video for lead track "Fuck These Days."
