  • Paul Nicholson, the person behind the Aphex Twin logo, has shone light on the sketches that led to his iconic design. The London-based designer has recently been digging out some old sketches to share on Instagram along with accompanying notes, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Aphex Twin album Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Nicholson designed the gatefold LP for Selected Ambient Works Vol 2., which came out in 1994, and he says the photos used in the album's inner gatefold were mostly taken around the house he and Richard D. James were sharing on Southgate Road in East London. Speaking to Resident Advisor, Nicholson spoke about his working relationship with James, including their time together at Kingston Polytechnic and his stint as a dancer on an Aphex Twin live tour. Watch Nicholson discuss his work in this video.
