The long-running festival is back in October after a year's hiatus.
New Forms Festival will take place on October 7th and 8th.
The festival has long been an important part of the Vancouver electronic music calendar, typically taking place in mid-September. After 2014's edition, which took place at a science museum, the festival pledged a format change, moving from an annual festival to year-round programming. Now, after a year, New Forms is back in its original form.
This year, the festival unfolds over two nights at 560 Seymour, the Downtown building once home to the three-floor superclub 560, and before that, vaunted record store A&B Sound. Programming will be spread through the main room, the upstairs satellite gallery and a lounge area.
As ever, the lineup is a heady mix of dance acts with more experimental artists. Robert Hood and Convextion are among the bigger names, along with Pye Corner Audio, Deft, Lee Bannon, Kara-Lis Coverdale and Untold. Durban gqom producer Menchess is also on hand, plus Portland dub practitioner Strategy.
Among the local acts are Downtown Solutions (the new alias of Friendly Chemist), 1080p affiliates Minimal Violence, You're Me, Khotin and Slow Riffs, the ambient project of Mood Hut's Local Artist. For the full lineup, check out the event listing.
