  • New Forms Festival will not be happening this year, instead replaced by a new series of year-round events. The Vancouver experimental electronic institution announced the change earlier this month, but it wasn't until today that they revealed the first show. Though New Forms will no longer take place as a festival in September, as it has for the past 15 years, organizers promise they will "continue in the production of individual music events, art exhibitions, archival projects, publications, residencies, as well as continuing our partnerships with other non-profit arts organizations." The first gig is happening in partnership with the International Symposium Of Electronic Arts in mid-August. New Forms will hold a late-evening party in the outdoor area of the Vancouver Art Gallery—also in collaboration with FUSE, a regular series there—on the 15th featuring Detroit's Anthony 'Shake' Shakir. He'll be supported by live sets from 1080p associate RAMZI and Attitudes In Error, with visuals from Nicolas Sassoon.
