- 2021 was DJ Pipe's year. His breakout 12-inch helped him make the jump from word-of-mouth cult favorite to something a bit closer to the clubland limelight (with a US tour to boot). His follow-up four tracker makes the case that his star will continue to rise in 2022. The title of the EP, Deeply Floored, hints at a subtle change in direction. DJ Pipe trades in the wiggles of Croydon for his spin on deep house. All the tracks move a bit slower and sound a bit warmer, but it's "Fragile Transit" that gives us our fullest glimpse of Pipe in sultry, serenade mode. The bassline remains dangerously fun, but the pads are smokier, almost sensual, as they give red velvet accents to the bongo and plaintive synth lead.
