  • Pachamama is an earth-mother figure worshipped around the Andes. Inspired by this deity—specifically her bountiful crop of psychotropic plants and the rituals that surround them—Buenos Aires producer Balam concocts a heady, percussive brew. The Multi Culti affiliate twists enchanting djembes, marimbas and waves of modular synthesis into spinning shapes, getting particularly trippy on "Golfo." Throughout the track, bursts of glossy synth sneak in between smatterings of percussion but in no time at all, a mean bassline creeps up in what feels like a playful dance between nature's opiates and stimulants.
