- It’s hard to avoid clichés when describing Fred P's music. It feels almost ineffably deep, whether he's going full-on ambient or minting his signature house tracks. We get a taste of the latter on his latest offering for his subscription-based label, Private Society, now getting a release on vinyl for the first time. "Journey On" takes depth literally—the field recording that starts the track sounds subterranean, as if we were listening to a party filtered through a subway tunnel. Throw in a splattering of hand drums with a Latin flavor (evoking 2019’s Black Jazz Consortium LP), a slow vibrancy to the chords and a jazzy Rhodes solo, and we're lost in house heaven.
