  • A new exhibition on legendary free-party crew Spiral Tribe (AKA SP23) is opening in Zürich this month. Running from October 13th through December 16th at Mikro Offspace, the free show will chronicle the history of the UK collective and its impact on rave culture at home and across Europe via an archive of photos, flyers, videos and manifestos. The archive will be accessible 24/7 and was co-curated by Nicola Kazimir. There will also be several events, including a book premiere from Spiral Tribe cofounder Mark Angelo Harrison (October 13th), a talk on the current free-party scene hosted by 69DB (November 2nd) and a screening of the documentary Free Party: A Folk History (December 2nd). The exhibition will close with a party featuring the SP23 crew. More details are still TBA. Launched in 1991 in the UK, the Spiral Tribe collective and sound system played a pivotal role in the historic Castlemorton rave of 1992. After the government clamped down on the free-party scene, Spiral Tribe relocated to Europe and helped inspire the freetekno movement. Find out more about the exhibition.
Update, November 7th: This piece has been updated to reflect that Nicola Kazimir co-curated the show.
