Galcher Lustwerk's breakthrough mixtape is getting its first vinyl release.
On December 2nd, Ghostly International will release 100% Galcher as a double-LP. The mix, which was originally released in 2013 via the now-defunct Blowing Up The Workshop series, spans 15 tracks of deep house featuring Lustwerk's vocals.
Lustwerk wrote the tracks a decade ago in his bedroom studio in Brooklyn, using a Dave Smith Tempest drum machine, a Waldorf Blofeld synth and a TEAC Audio cassette recorder.
"I thought I could let the music speak for itself, so I put it in a mix," Lustwerk said. "I thought I could hide my face, so I never bothered with marketing. I thought vinyl was the most important, so I joined the queue. A famed British distributor ghosted me for months at a time. I never knew when my records were coming out. I waited while A&Rs and YouTubers pillaged my sound, inventing new artists out of thin air and using their marketing money to capitalise off them."
He added: "I waited until Ghostly reached out and asked for an album of new original music. Then I waited again until they reached out a second time to properly release 100% Galcher in its complete form. In this most patient decade I learned so much about what's really real in this world. All I can assume is that it's been worth the wait."
