  • GIDEÖN is starting a label called Homo-Centric Records. According to the UK DJ and Block9 cofounder, the outlet will mostly amplify queer dance music artists, while paying homage to house music's LGBTQIA+, Black and Latino roots. "This new venture feels like the natural progression of the stuff I've been doing over the last decade," GIDEÖN told Resident Advisor. "R³ Soundsystem and its political interventions, NYC Downlow and its queer networks and the co-booking and residency at ADONIS in London, not to mention being a touring DJ... All roads seem to have led to Homo-Centric Records." Out on October 28th, the first release is a four-tracker by GIDEÖN called Ritmo EP. The lead single, available to stream below, is "Aaron Carl Lives On," which features the late Detroit legend's vocal. "Tracking down Mel (Aaron's partner who manages his estate) was a real detective mission," said GIDEÖN. "Despite many months of drawing complete blanks, I was finally introduced to Mel by Jeffrey Sfire, fellow Detroit queer royalty, and was given their blessing to release the track." Listen to "Aaron Carl Lives On."
