- "Invasion" and "Murder One" arrive on a 12-inch next month.
Rare material from the archives of Alan Vega, one-half of influential proto-punk band Suicide, will soon be available on vinyl.
Two unreleased singles, "Invasion" and "Murder One," comprise a new EP called Invasion b/w Murder One. It'll be available digitally and on vinyl on February 25th via New York-based Sacred Bones Records. French clothing brand agnès b. is also supporting the launch with a partnership.
The 12-inch combines two different chapters of Vega's solo career. "Murder One," recorded sometime between 1997 and 1998, was originally slated for the 2007 album, but was never used. "Invasion" is one of the musician's last recordings. Developed during the latter part of the 2012 to 2015 era, it was intended for the album It, which was released a year following Vega's death in 2016, but never made it.
Invasion b/w Murder One is the latest Vega archival release by Sacred Bones. Last year, the label delivered Mutator, a "lost" LP containing eight tracks from the 1995-1996 period.
Both Invasion b/w Murder One and Mutator were mixed and produced by Vega's close collaborator Jared Artaud and the artist's wife, Liz Lamere, who performed during the recording process of "Murder One" and "Invasion."
