  • Clubs in the Netherlands must close by 9 PM for three weeks starting tomorrow, November 13th. In a press conference earlier today, Prime minister Mark Rutte confirmed that the three-week lockdown will come into effect at 6 PM tomorrow. This week, the Netherlands hit a record number of new cases of Covid-19. This is yet another blow to nightclubs, which only reopened in late September. Last week, face masks were once again made mandatory in indoor public spaces. The partial lockdown means bars, restaurants and non-essential shops will have to close by between 6 and 7 PM. Sports events can't have spectators in the stands and people are encouraged to work from home as much as possible. A maximum of four visitors in your home is recommended. Schools, theatres and cinemas will remain open. The government website has a full list of the new restrictions. According to Reuters, approximately 85 percent of the adult Dutch population has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The Netherlands is now the first country in Western Europe to go back into lockdown regulations since the summer, the Guardian reports. Photo: Joe Cleary
