  • Legendary London venue KOKO will reopen in spring 2022. After a fire in January 2020, the venue has undergone £70 million worth of reconstruction and renovation. As well as the main theatre, the renovations include two new performance spaces (The Fly Tower, Ellen's Jazz Club), a recording studio, a pizzeria, a shop and a roof terrace restaurant. The venue is relaunching in partnership with content company SISTER. A new KOKO radio station will also land soon, aiming to support new and emerging artists. Next year, the new KOKO Foundation will launch as a registered charity, with a focus on protecting the environment and empowering future generations of talent. To begin with, the KOKO Foundation will focus on local community projects in and around Camden. "Our ambition is to deliver a truly unique music experience that has never been seen before," CEO and founder Olly Bengough told Resident Advisor. "Every last detail has been thought through with the wish to create something truly special for everyone who comes to KOKO when we return next year, from curation, design, art and most importantly—music." First opened in 1900, KOKO has hosted some of the most iconic artists in history, including Prince, Madonna, Amy Winehouse and Kanye West. The venue has also been a favourite with dance music fans, hosting legendary raves and artists like The Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox and Annie Mac. Here's a diagram of the new KOKO.
