  • Berlin-based DJ Juba has announced a second season of The Assurance Podcast, which showcases women-identifying DJs from the developing world. The first episode launches today, September 13th, with Cape Town-based artist Gina Jeanz, who discusses South African music, local nightlife and societal issues such as gender-based violence. Future guests include Medellín-based Julianna and Nairobi talent Coco Em. In addition to exploring gender and race representation in electronic music, the new season also touches on the pandemic's impact on club communities around Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. Juba started the podcast earlier this year as a follow-up to her 2020 documentary of the same name, which spotlighted Nigeria's female DJs. Juba also hosts the Afroelectronik show on Cashmere Radio and is the cofounder of Boko! Boko!, a collective that works to increase female representation in the industry.
