- Vinca Petersen's debut show is on at the Edel Assanti gallery until July 30th.
A photography exhibition documenting the free party scene around Europe between 1990 and 2004 is now showing in London.
Running until July 30th at the Edel Assanti gallery, Vinca Petersen: Raves And Riots is the artist's debut show. She took the photos as a member of the free party and traveller community, capturing both sides of the culture: the raves and nomadic lifestyle, and the protests and confrontations with the police.
"To me, the same thing sometimes happens on a demonstration as in an illegal rave," says Petersen in the exhibition text. "They're both slightly edgy gatherings… You get a sense of the normal world being suspended, and you experience these brief, totally free moments."
Vinca Petersen: Raves And Riots opened on June 4th and will be showing until July 30th, 2021. Find out more here.
