  • Ultra Music Festival has come to an accord with Miami's Downtown Neighbors Alliance after years of tension. The key US festival's problems with the city span back to the height of the EDM wave in 2014, when a gatecrashing incident and rampant arrests got Ultra in hot water with the city's mayor. While Ultra 2020 was cancelled due to Covid-19, it's set to occur in its regular venue, Bayfront Park, May 25th through the 27th, 2022. Leading up to the festival's return, the agreement with the alliance—which represents a dozen residential communities in downtown Miami—is said to act as "a much-welcomed conclusion to their longstanding tensions," according to Ultra's press release. "Ultra's leadership was privileged to work closely with local residents in striking the balance between accommodating local residential lifestyles and hosting large-scale and state-of-the art music productions in Miami’s urban core," said Ultra's company spokesperson, Ray Martinez. James Torres, President of the Miami Downtown Neighbors Alliance, commented, "[w]e are pleased to have reached an agreement that addresses many of the issues that have impacted Downtown Miami residents during previous Ultra events."
