  • Ultra has announced that its 2015 edition will take place from March 27th through 29th. Though the Miami festival sold out once again this year, the weekend was tainted by a gatecrashing incident on Friday that left one security guard in critical condition. Eager fans trampled over a weak fence that organizers had been told to properly reinforce just hours before. The police and the city's mayor Tomas Regalado have both been quick to blame the festival, and Regalado has pledged to lead city council to ban the event from taking place in Miami for any future editions. For their part, Ultra are apparently conducting a review of their security measures, according to a statement on Pitchfork—which also says they had beefed up security this year compared to past editions. A press release from Ultra also emphasizes the economic benefit it brings to the city, claiming that the two-weekend Ultra 2013 brought at least $223 million into Miami.
