  • As part of our new Re-record feature focusing on Black artists in electronic music from 2001 through 2020, we're doing a week-long Mix Of The Day takeover. Floorplan is the father-daughter duo of Robert Hood and Lyric Hood, who make gospel-influenced techno that has taken the world by storm since the project was revived in 2010. Club anthems like "Never Grow Old" and "Let The Church" are some of the most ubiquitous tracks of the last ten years, and thanks to her work in Floorplan and a recent solo debut, Lyric is becoming a force of her own as well. And as for Robert Hood, well, he's one of the most important artists in the history of techno, helping to define the minimal sound in Detroit in the mid-'90s and balancing functionality and emotion like few others could. This 2018 mix for EPM catches the duo in full-on club mode, featuring the taut, barreling and melodic techno they're known for.
