  • Sydney promoter Paul Strange has died. A Scottish expat, Strange first arrived in Australia after a five-year stint working in Ibiza and launched Paul Strange Presents in 2000, a company which went on to host regular large-scale parties all over the city for the best part of two decades. Artists like Carl Cox, Patrick Topping, Oliver Huntemann, Heidi and Doorly have all appeared at multiple events hosted by Strange. He was also responsible for bringing Space Ibiza parties to Sydney every New Year's Day for ten years. The 2020 edition is still slated to go ahead at The Greenwood Hotel with Patrice Bäumel and Heidi. All profits will go to Strange's daughter and to Mental Health Australia. The Industry Observer confirmed Strange's death earlier this week, noting an outpouring on social media from industry figures and artists from Australia and around the world.
