- The 13-track album will be available in a limited-edition vinyl run of 200 copies in August.
Tobias Freund has revealed his next limited-edition release of archival material on his label, Non Standard Productions.
Under his Tobias. alias, Freund collects 13 tracks on Studio Works 1986 - 1988, recorded when he worked at Far Studios in Rosbach, Germany. There, he "had an array of gear at my disposal that not many producers could afford, and know how to use in consequence," he says in the press release. "Confronted with this considerable amount of opportunities on a daily basis, I soon decided to use what I was surrounded with for my own musical ideas, and started experimenting with it in my spare time."
"My perception of sounds quickly surpassed what I had known before. The equipment," of which Freund lists the Linn 9000, Kurzweil K 250, Emulator ll, Yamaha DX 7, EMS Vocoder and more, "offered me many possibilities to position sounds within a song and I learnt how to compose by filling up all the places in between the speakers." The archival vinyl LP will be released in a run of 200 copies on August 23rd.
In 2018, Freund released a cassette of mostly unheard material from his Pink Elln alias. The Beginning features 17 works from 1984 through 1988. Only 100 tapes were produced.
