- The German producer will release a limited-edition tape called The Beginning on Non Standard Productions next month.
Longtime German producer Tobias Freund, AKA tobias., is putting out a cassette next month highlighting unheard material from his Pink Elln alias.
The Beginning takes a look at one of Freund's earliest music projects, with 17 tracks recorded from 1984 through 1988, that "blend the lo-fi aesthetics of electronic alternative of the time with a tongue-in-cheek sensibility of pop," according to today's announcement. It's made almost entirely out of unreleased music save for "Human Perc," which was issued on a Minimal Wave compilation earlier this year.
The tape is set to come through the Freund's own label, Non Standard Productions, in an edition of 100 copies. The first 50 will also come with a picture from a film the artist shot in 1987.
We're told Freund plans on putting out more archival works "in the near future."
