  • The second and third releases on Zehnin will introduce a new project called Roots In Heaven. Zehnin launched in March with a pair of long-form techno cuts from Stroboscopic Artefacts boss Lucy. Now the label is moving into more experimental realms with an album and EP from Roots In Heaven, an apparently well-known Berlin-based producer keeping his real identity hidden behind a "mesh mask lined with obsidian feathers." We're told this project further extends the artist's "already solid commitment to deep sound." The album, Petites Madeleines, is made up of one nearly hour-long ambient and drone track "whose immersive, meditative quality initiates participants into a realm of reversed energy currents," according to the label. It takes its name and draws inspiration from the episode in Marcel Proust's early-20th century novel À La Recherche Du Temps Perdu (In Search Of Lost Time), in which the narrator experiences a flashback when having tea and madeleines. Zehnin will issue it in mid-June, after a "prelude" EP, Sang Des Betes / Affaires Des Rats, featuring a similarly esoteric pair of ten minute-plus productions, lands later this month. Both releases will come on vinyl and digital formats, with the album also being put on CD. Roots In Heaven has locked in his first live performances, with upcoming gigs in Sheffield, Amsterdam, Vitoria and Prague. Listen to a preview of "Affaires Des Rats."
