- The UK sound artist released a new LP today.
Russell Haswell's latest full-length, PANTHER nO!se, is out now.
The Coventry native has been active for decades, collaborating with the likes of Aphex Twin and Autechre over the years. (He'll head out on a 28-date tour supporting Autechre starting November 1st.) The LP, which launches his new Haswell Studio imprint, follows the Robert Hood-inspired 2015 Diagonal album, As Sure As Night Follows Day, as well as a subsequent remix 12-inch with versions from DJ Stingray, Autechre and label boss Powell. He also put out a drum module called Haswell's Taiko earlier this year.
The press release notes PANTHER nO!se was recorded in London in July of 2016, originally intended to be sold as a USB release on the Diagonal North American tour. The record is available in 24 bit 96 kHz format, a hi-fi nod to Haswell's previous fixation on "no surface noise" experimental CDs.
He says PANTHER nO!se is "about style, taste, culture, friends, love, revenge, exorcism, homelessness, feedback, wave multiplying and folding, improvisation, fuzz, time distortion, self-generation, materialist and process type works, format wars, the internet, etc." A partial gear list indicates ADDAC systems, ALM/Busy Circuits, Flight of Harmony, Serge, Snazzy FX and Tiptop Audio products were used for the recording.
