- The party goes down in DTLA at the Founders Room in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Resident Advisor has teamed up with LA internet radio station Dublab to present a stage at Sleepless, going down at the The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on April 1st.
The fourth edition of Sleepless returns to the Pavilion at the Music Center, a downtown arts center that includes the Frank Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall. Resident Advisor has programmed the Founders Room, a space Dublab typically dedicates to dance music. For this one, we've brought in Night Slugs man Jam City for a headlining set. Stefan Ringer, the Atlanta producer also known as REKchampa, will also be on the decks, coming off of well-received EPs for labels like NDATL and People's Potential Unlimited. The latter label also works with LA boogie musician Benedek, who is ramping up to a full-length on Leaving Records. He'll round out the Founders Room bill with a live set.
Elsewhere in the building, Beastie Boys collaborator Money Mark, sci-fi obsessed Brainfeeder and Leaving affiliate Ras G and Nite Jewel are set to perform. Sage Caswell, best known for his dance floor productions, is booked in for an ambient set with Stones Throw boss Peanut Butter Wolf and well-established producer Adrian Younge set to appear on LA promoter Art Don't Sleep's stage. More will acts to be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Sleepless series gained popularity through placing acts like William Basinski and Daniel Lanois into a setting traditionally reserved for classical and opera music. In February, Lovefingers' ESP Institute brought Red Light Records man Tako and Kuniyuki into the Pavilion for rare appearances.
Dublab and Sage Caswell featured heavily in our recent Real Scenes Los Angeles film. Watch the documentary below.
