- The founder and CEO of Hippos In Tanks has reportedly died in a car accident, age 27.
Barron Machat has died.
Machat was one of the founders (and operating CEO) of Hippos In Tanks, an experimental record label that released music from the likes of Autre Ne Veut, James Ferraro, Laurel Halo and Dean Blunt over its five-year lifespan. The news first came via tweets from Tri Angle's Robin Carolan and Oneohtrix Point Never, who were close colleagues of Machat's. A statement from a relative on Facebook said that he died in a car accident in the early hours of Wednesday morning. He was 27.
