- The fabric resident will set out on a tour of the US and Canada this month.
fabric resident Daniel Avery will leave home for the US and Canada for a good chunk of May.
Though up until recently Avery was known mostly as a DJ (and a student of Erol Alkan), in the past few years he's really made an effort to strike out on his own as a producer with releases under his given name. That climaxed last year with his debut album Drone Logic, which we called a "relentlessly stormy record" and put at number 20 in our list of the best LPs of last year. He's been living large since, remixing Audion, Factory Floor and Primal Scream, among others, and now he'll ride that acclaim to a comprehensive tour of North America starting later this month.
His jaunt will start on the 15th at Boston's Together Festival, and from there he'll head down to Miami, back up to Denver and then he'll play Toronto's Electric Island season opener on the 19th. He'll spend some time in New York, appearing on Beats In Space radio on the 20th and at Output on the 22nd, followed by East Coast appearances in Washington DC, Philly and Montreal (for Piknic Electronik). His tour will finish up in Detroit on May 26 with two shows—one an appearance at Movement Festival, and the other later that night at As You Like It's afterparty.
Marking another milestone, Avery was recently invited to contribute to the Essential Mix series. Have a listen to that below.
