Speedy J, DVS1 and others will play the pre-festival bash in Detroit in May.
Electric Deluxe will curate a Friday night opening party for this year's Movement festival.
Every year in Detroit, there are official shindigs that happens on the Friday night (in this case, May 23rd), before Movement begins in earnest on Saturday afternoon. After last year's effort from Desolat, this year Electric Deluxe has been tapped to handle one of the showcases, which will go down at The Works from 10 PM all the way to 6 AM the next morning.
The esteemed techno label is the baby of Dutch veteran Jochem Paap, AKA Speedy J, and it's been operating since 2008, releasing hard-edged beats from the likes of Terence Fixmer and Black Asteroid, and more recently, AnD and Giorgio Gigli. They also have a well-known podcast series, which they recently celebrated with a special vinyl package.
Paap himself will headline the event, at The Works, and he'll play alongside Minneapolis DJ DVS1, Stroboscopic Artefacts head Lucy (fresh off the release of his new album), Mike Dehnert, Chicago resident Jeff Derringer and the mysterious Subjected, rounded off by American selector Mike Gervais.
The actual festival takes place in Detroit's Hart Plaza from May 24th through to the 26th, and will feature headliners like Dixon, Jeff Mills, Kode9 and John Digweed.
Tickets are available on RA.
