  • The first Opaque Shift party will take place in Toronto this Saturday, February 1st. The new series follows hot on the heels of Format, another club night recently launched in Canada's largest city as a platform for underground techno. Opaque Shift will promises to "[provide] an authentic techno experience," and will happen in a secret venue on Bloor Street hidden among retail stores, which is completely soundproofed and fitted with an Alieninflux system and full lighting. The first event leans towards the harder end of techno, headline by Michigan residents and Blank Code associates Joel Morgan and Altstadt Echo. New York's Repressor is also booked, and he'll team up with local DJ Measure Divide under the Subfractal banner. Support will come from Opaque Shift residents Vyxn, Paulina G, Catacomb and Frakture Audio man Replikant. To get an idea of their aesthetic, check out a recent podcast by Paulina G and Catacomb here.
