  • Brisbane venue Barsoma has announced it will be closing down on April 15th after nearly a decade of operation. The restaurant, bar and club, situated at the bottom end of Fortitude Valley, has been a regular spot for top electronic internationals throughout its life, with artists like Derrick May, DJ Harvey, Matthew Dear, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Âme all gracing the stage during the past few years. Barsoma's website explains that owners Nick Braban and Jodie Hamilton have "decided to move onto new projects," although the statement also indicates that a new venue will be opened in its place in the near future. In the remaining weeks the venue has left, farewell parties will be hosted by a number of local promoters who frequently hosted their events at the club. Auditree will take over this Saturday, March 23rd, with residents Cosmo Cater, Scott Walker, Youth (AKA River & Phoenix) and more. Logic, Elements, Therapy and Underground Resistance are also expected to host send-off gigs over the next month.
