  • Split Music, a London-based publishing agency for experimental electronic music, is starting a label called Research. Aiming for "new levels of sonic intensity," as a press release puts it, that reflect the turbulent state of current global affairs, Research will showcase material from the producers Split Music has worked with. Its inaugural release is Spheres, a compilation LP with tracks from These Hidden Hands (Tommy Four Seven and Alain Paul), Mondkopf, SNTS, OAKE, Headless Horseman and Grebenstein. Inspired by artist and mathematician Timothy Cresswell, who makes clay spheres covered with geometric figures, Spheres is described as the first entry in a series aiming "to unite a diverse selection of artists around a common theme." It'll arrive in late November, only on 12-inch vinyl. Founded by Vikram Gudi and Peter Saville around three years ago, Split Music has placed music in movie and TV series trailers like Blade Runner 2049, Jason Bourne and The Walking Dead, and ads and brand films for Puma, Dior and Toyota, among others.
