Electro Nouveau

  • Disc 1 Cracking out of the box with the 'Chicks On Speed' and follows with the solid 'Seventeen' track by Ladytron. Other tracks worth mentioning on this disc are the BIS's 'Robotic (Adult Almost Instrumental Mix), FPU with 'Ocean Drive' (Tiga's White Linen Vox), the G-G remix of 'Desire' by GusGus and 'Rippin Kittin' by Goldenboy with Miss Kittin all ensure this disc has a reasonable amount of long term listening. This first disc has its ups and downs, it seems to get a little edgy in the middle but really picks up well and the majority of the 2nd half of this disc really gives it strength. Disc 2 This second disc features a lot of strong tracks; unfortunately the first was not something I'd enjoy listening too. Spray's 'Living in Neon' is a great 80's style synth anthem. Felix Da Housecat is featured with Tiga's Mr Hollywood Version of 'Madame Hollywood' from which the very electro Sean Kosa takes over with 'Spaceship'. Neuropa's 'Lifeline', Feezepop with 'Plastic Stars' and Ganymede with 'Neon Rain' take the side towards an end with more synthy 80's effects. Neonwork and BIS, with 'La Invasion' and 'The end starts today' respectively, take this disc to a nice close. Electro Nouveau, with its mixture of Tech, Synth Pop and Nu-electro, features some great tracks and remixes. Overall if electro clash is your thing I recommend giving it a listen in your local record store. I'm not one with much experience in the genre, but after some solid listening I give this compilation a fairly even score of 5. It has its good points and it’s not so good but it definitely has potential. Give it a listen and see what you think
