  • "Trash to Treasure" says the run-out etching on this latest Golf Channel edit 12-inch, ideally the rallying cry for crafting edits in the first place. Luckily, since Golf Channel's first release was Mark E.'s killer rejigger of Janet Jackson's "R&B Junkie," another edit entry from them can only fall into the latter category. "Make Dance" from a masked NYC producer/rock musician is an edit of Chic's "Flash Back" (from 1981's Take It Off). It's a tricky, mischievous reworking of a track that is arguably deep enough to not quite warrant a facelift. The edit elides the jazzy breakdowns of the original but keeps Nile Rodgers' understated though burning guitar solo intact. Where the edit excels is in pruning just enough of the original lyric to make the purred lines about "make love and dance was all we'd do" and the echoing refrain of "just getting high-HIGH" into giggly though still head-nodding mantras. The flip, "Sir Mr. Doctor to You," is fueled by a sparkling, drunken, ludicrous and wonky keyboard solo for most of its duration, steadily building up with sudden ARP starbursts and a tightening slink of hand percussion. The pay-off comes on the cheesy appearance of some dude belting out: "I'm your doctor of love." Another jokey vocal line, but still effective.
