  • This is a limited edition 10” remix of ‘Enjoy the Moments’, a warm, if somewhat simplistic and blocky, bit of chord techno from Shinedoe’s Sound Travelling album. They make shiny, effective Detroit in the Lowlands, and while Shinedoe’s original wasn’t a particular great model off the factory line (check Joris Voorn’s ‘No Revolution’ for this year’s Mercedes Benz), it did have a certain confidence that comes from knowing where it stood. The Swiss, on the other hand, have to make things up a bit. As a DJ, Ripperton mixes and matches different styles – neo trance, deep & minimal mostly - but that openmindedness just sounds like a lack of focus here. The first five minutes wanders, changing feel each time a new element is introduced, as if Ripperton didn’t quite know what to do with the original. But don’t turn it off – there’s a very useful rally at the end when the track ditches the original completely to become a cauldron of flanged rubberband psychedelia reminiscent of Serafin’s ‘Starship Discoteque’ or early Luciano. Come to think of it, that is kinda Swiss. Switzerland 3, Holland 2.
