  • Oh yes, the kasbah was rocked. And you were probably there rocking it, considering the massive throng thrusting and busting manouveres on the stairs, in the toilets and any *spare ledge. Congrats on that slinky reverse shuffle, dear reader; nice variation on the theme. And thanks to the bouncers for not kicking me out after seven warnings to "Stop dancing on the fucking stage". Early on, Kid Kenobi played a fairly mainstream and uninspiring set, MC ShureShock peppering the mix with raps akin to a mosquito buzzing in one's ears just prior to sleep. Harsh, but true. We levitate upstairs and find Boogs playing his trademark mashed-up magic in the ElectroHouse room... to an empty dancefloor. The Iceman and I cut a few loping laps of the mahogany dancefloor, doing some freaky shoulder-dancing, and the floor comes alive with absolute robobabes. "Look at this ratio!" he eyebrows to me. Yum cha. Boogs slaps down Daft Punk's Da Funk bootleg with 'Dub Be Good To me' vocal. Rowie takes the torch and runs with it, splicing Regurgitator's Prince ode '!' that's phatter-than-my-mama. He absolutely caned it and had eager promoters clawing for a chat afterwards. BassKleph had them scrambling for a word too, after producing a live feast of teky, intelligent breaks, topped with birthday dollops of dreamy, ice-creamy sonics. Quite appropriate too, as I scream, you scream. Yeah, we got loud. Sporting a blonde rinse just for Melbourne, Hyper nods and grins with equal intensity, pile-driving the Main Room with 'We Control' and winking at the hot-ass laydeez sauntering around. BluePrint jumps on next, with Travvy Gillet drumming live and direct and Kerrie Loveless (K-Lo) chanteusing over dirty slabs of party-friendly breakbeats. "I can Breakaway!" They sound smashing, pumpkin, getting everyone out of their 4.30am laziness and into a smoking groove. Agent 86 scratched the itch too, thumping out some hot Presets material and getting the whole dancefloor to fall in love with him. Like usual. Kudos to the kats who run INTHEMIX, Drey and Drexyian et al. You do it for the love and we love you. *the dancefloor was also 'used' occassionally.
