Sinistarr - Lose Track

  • The creepiest tune you'll ever hear on Exit Records.

  • Exit Records really has it both ways—it's one of the world's best and most reliable drum & bass labels, but also a place for genuine experimentation. The ongoing four-part series celebrating its 100th release proves that label boss dBridge is more concerned with showcasing its leftfield tendencies over anything more crowd-pleasing. Case in point: Sinistarr's bewitching contribution to EXIT100 Pt. Two, which reminds me of the old Autonomic days and drum & bass artists like Consequence. This is flickering, barely there half-time drum & bass that shudders with unpredictable LFO basslines and strange samples that sound like ghosts interfering with the signal—gasps, the hint of strings, a distant European ambulance wailing. Heavier than you'd think from its near absence of structure, "Lose Track" is functional yet almost completely without form. In other words, the kind of what-the-fuck-is-this brilliance that Exit has been releasing consistently for years.
