- The title track of Japanese producer Guchon's Piano Bros EP for Maximum Airtime is an irresistible slice of piano house—replete with blissed-out acid licks—but I'd direct the heads to the A2, "Funky Al." It's a slow-burner built around an expertly chopped beat that bounces and turns on its heel in all the right places, like watching an expert prep cook brunoise an onion in mere seconds. The leisurely tempo makes every percussive pop and spin hit harder. The bassline is insistent, lending the track the illusion of constantly climbing higher. A remix from Bay Area producer Farsight is a nice bonus, reforming the track into a dive-bombing dubstep anthem spiked with speed garage.
