Peder Mannerfelt - Eurotrashed

  • Peder Mannerfelt gets even more ridiculous—and we love it.

  • On first hearing Peder Mannerfelt's frankly ridiculous new EP, The Benefits of Living in a Hole, a friend of mine described it as "Pokémon-ass techno." (Looney Tunes would be another apt comparison.) The EP takes the larger-than-life textures of recent releases on Voam and adds a litany of sounds that could only be described as zany. "Eurotrashed" is my pick of the bunch, with colossal kick drums framed by a melody that sounds like the sampled cry of some eldritch forest creature (or maybe a Pokémon). Every time the samples get a little too silly, the Swedish producer pulls back and unleashes a kick drum onslaught that would make a Gegen partygoer blush. Upping the ante as Mannerfelt is wont to do, "Eurotrashed" helps close a year for Voam that blazed a jagged, cartoonishly zig-zagging path through the techno scene.
