- Since breaking through in the last year, SUCHI operates in two distinct musical modes. Her DJ sets are buoyant and brash, jumping from, as Nyshka Chandran recently put it, "breakbeats to Bollywood edits." But her own productions are headsier, exploring genres like minimal techno and tech house. She straddles both of these worlds on her latest remix, this time for San Francisco duo Baalti. The original version of "Spilling" takes Bollywood samples and splices them over UK bass rhythms somewhere between garage and dubstep, with a syncopated swing and cavernous subs. SUCHI refines the original into a sleek piece of house. The vocals are reduced to percussive accents on the slightly aquatic sounding synths giving it a low-slung feel. But it's still a belter thanks to the full-on rave ecstasy of the piano line.
