  • D33 is the latest alias from Miami's long-reigning king Danny Daze. The alias is meant to channel his housier tendencies, and D33's debut EP, The Operator, presents a leaner approach to production that we're accustomed to. On the record standout "The Operator (Wet Mix)" he goes full Jesse Saunders with a house track as elemental as they come—a dry-as-a-bone drum machine pattern pulses underneath a synth compressed to within an inch of its life. About halfway through, Daze lets a snare loose to give the track a bit more depth, but this is squiggly, analog house at its finest. It's also a reminder that even though he'll always be Danny from Miami, he's also spent some more time than most digging through dollar bins around the country.
