  • Keep an eye on Bogotá producer Brenda. Over the past year, he's been churning out fiery club cuts fashioned from well-known samples, in a twist on the tradition known as plunderphonics. He's combined Oneohtrix Point Never with Colombian singer Feid and mashed up DJ Babatr, Gwen Stefani and Nick León. For his debut album, the artist also known as Mav Nuhels chose a different bag of ingredients. Focusing on genres instead of samples, he fuses Latin styles like Joropo, guaracha, reggaeton and cumbia with breakbeats, Jersey club, acid and electro for furious yet fun dance music. "Vento Rave" is a perfect introduction to Brenda's composite sound. It's quintessential fast-paced rave with sped-up, manipulated vocals that reference hyperpop but with plenty of surprises. Throughout, there are vibe shifts from trance to experimental reggaeton to dembow techno but each one is executed with sass. Brenda's ability to balance the intensity of these club sounds with a sense of playfulness is what makes this track stand out.
