Sifter & Adan - Heyflicker

  • Texan tech-house producers turned breakbeat upstarts Sifter & Adan follow up their debut breakbeat release, Didn't Mean To Turn You Off b/w Mack That Ass Up with Heyflicker (which deceivingly looks like Heyfucker when typed in all capitals!) - a tune which is guaranteed to score Boombox another crossover hit. Boombox's new signings, the Digital Breaks Foundation represent with a deeper techier mix of the tune. Side A. Original mix From the offset, Sifter & Adan's tech house past can be heard in the deep intro loaded with lots of vocal cuts, a deep techy hook with the syncopated beats the only thing classifying this tune in the breaks genre. During the first breakdown, a melodic bassline is introduced and one can be forgiven for thinking that they're listening to a jacking house tune as the bass just makes you wanna jack your body to it. For those familiar with Sifter & Adan tech house releases on the Honchos label will easily associate with this tune. Side AA. Digital Breaks Foundation Remix Fresh from their One Inch Punch release, Digital Breaks Foundation take Heyflicker and give it a techier breaks feel giving up the bass a darker electro feel (with electro stabs to accompany it) yet funnily enough put less syncopation on the beat giving this version a much simpler beat pattern. With the rise of electro, this one is sure to be a crossover hit for Boombox but I'm going to have to give this one to the original version as the beats and bassline are very nice.
