Boss Priester - NRG

  • Tech house with a side of garage swing from the Ba Dum Tish universe.

  • About a minute into Boss Priester's "NRG," the bass and synths drop out to make way for tinny snare rolls and a panning vocal. Just as quickly, the naughtiest bassline this side of Kurupt FM comes slamming back in, as the track explodes into 2-step-meets-tech-house fireworks. If that wasn't enough of a dopamine hit, about 30 seconds later, the Dutch producer lays it on thick a second time. This time the breakdown introduces a set of pads tailor made for festival Instagram reels—which is actually where I first heard the song and have been trying to chase it down for over a year. Landing on Alec Falconer and Dr. Banana's always growing Ba Dum Tish universe, this is about as big a song as the two have ever released. And hopefully it'll be gracing more sets at Houghton Hall and beyond this summer.
