- Pigeon Steve is the production and DJ alias of Glasgow staple Adam Lowe. Although FS1 is his first release, Lowe has been throwing parties for nearly a decade, bringing unsung UK heroes like the Disk Frisk gang to the city. It's worth bringing this up, as FS1 doesn't sound like a debut release. Instead, the record is an accomplished and considered 12-inch that marries the drug chug swagger of Salon Des Amateurs with trance synths and the bottom-heavy badness of UK hardcore. On record highlight "Chuffalump," the drums are slow and swung, as Lowe lays whiplashing acid lines and plaintive chords across the top—think Maara or the Planet Euphorique crew. But with its ten tonne bassline and occasional screaming vocal, it's also got some vintage Altern-8 flavour.
