Dee Diggs - Toss It

  • An irresistible summer jam that nods to classic house and disco, with a wonderful LADYMONIX remix to round it off.

  • "Toss It" glows with the warmth and soul of Dee Diggs's DJing. Just like her sets, "Toss It" is organic, with classic textures of wood, rubber and silk—the foundations of disco. The only thing more ear-catching than the incredible bass playing, which cleverly matches Diggs' simple vocal hook, is the chunky guitar, that never lets up and plays circles around everything else without getting too flashy. As it moves on, "Toss It" slowly descends into dance floor pandemonium. It switches into a minor-key mood with vocal ad-libs that take things from Salsoul to late-'80s Alleviated Records. It's a beautiful pop disco song that works as a house cut too. If you're looking for straight-up house, though, LADYMONIX has your back. Her remix that fastens the track to a bouncy house beat and features tension-building passages that focus on strings and jazzy keyboard runs. Diggs takes more of a house diva role than the front-and-centre pop vibes of the original. Both versions are excellent, and point to a potentially huge crossover moment for one of the best house DJs in New York.
