Mogwaa - Chances For Bounces

  • Retro techno with an electro twist from an essential South Korean artist.

  • Mogwaa is one of South Korea's shining stars. A producer with a vast repertoire of styles under his belt, he takes rhythmic cues from a wide palette, including jazz-funk, Latin percussion and dreamwave. His debut release on Peggy Gou's label, for instance, featured funky electro and sparkling Balearic house fit for Ibiza sunsets. It's only fitting, then, that he returns to Gudu Records with an equally diverse EP. "Chances For Bounces" stands out for its heavily synthesised melody, taut grooves and booming sub-bass. There's almost a Detroit touch to the track, as if Mogwaa had been listening to a lot of Aux 88 or Cybotron before hitting the studio. Part electro, part techno, part funk, this is a powerfully precise track for peak-time dancing.
