  • Convincing and funky vintage techno from a Dublin young gun.

  • Amid the BPM arms race that seems to be ruling Continental Europe, a funkier sound has sprouted up between the cracks: a sort of hardgroove revival characterised by tight grooves and plenty of fun percussive sounds. Dylan Fogarty's debut EP on Dublin label Disintegrated, is a great example. Opener "Favela" has it all: a humid, close mixdown that mirrors the feeling of a sweaty club, percussive vocal grunts to add some extra flair and the kind of hat-snare pattern that makes you feel like you're jogging in place on the dance floor. It's pitch-perfect, confident techno that toes the line between uplifting and uneasy—check those strings that ring out every once in a while—with everything in its right place.
